"Experts in ancient Greek culture say that people back then didn’t see their thoughts as belonging to them. When ancient Greeks had a thought, it occurred to them as a god or goddess giving an order. Apollo was telling them to be brave. Athena was telling them to fall in love.

Now people hear a commercial for sour cream potato chips and rush out to buy, but now they call this free will.

At least the ancient Greeks were being honest."

  1. I wonder if only Christians have trouble seeing gods walk around in their everyday lives.

  2. I though the Christian Temple of worship was Wall Mart, and a romantic night out was dinner at Applebees. They have gods all around them, no doubt.

  3. Those are demons and gargoyles. I ate at Applebee's for the first time recently and found it surprisingly unpleasant. It's a fast food joint in masquerade. Alas, Yankees don't know the difference anymore.

As for Wal-Mart, certainly archeologists will dig us up and conclude the place was a temple. Worship services are every Friday evening---and they'll take the whole paycheck, thank you.
