Awkward!

  1. Difficult to reconcile the image a nation wishes to project and fondly believes, and the far less glamorous daily reality.

  2. On the other hand, better our good leaders in Washington than some damn commies.

My employment situation has forced me to become a republican.

    1. What's a Republican? Is that like some sort of a Neimoidian?

    2. They say that the Neimoidians hold a lot of sway with the Trade Federation. But then again so does the 24th and current president of the French Republic. Or is it the other way around? It's hard to tell. François Hollande is the second Socialist Party president of the French Fifth Republic, after Francois Mitterrand. But then again, François Hollande is also co-prince of Andorra (it's a complicated thing). All in all, when it comes down to it, it would appear the French Republic is just another follower of the Trade Federation. That's where it allegiance is, of course. That, and to the Empire, "ça va sans dire."

    3. As you know, the Trade Federation is a very powerful commerce guild, trade cartel, megacorporation, and lobbying group that was founded in 350 BBY as an association of business and trade groups with its own commercial trade fleet.

For all practical purpose, the Federation dominates entire star systems and all major trade routes, and is served by a formidable military-industrial complex.

The Federation had played, early on, a major role in the Clone Wars for its allegiance to the Confederacy of Independent Systems, but was eventually imperialized upon the Galactic Empire's formation in 19 BBY.

  3. What you call cowardice us republicans call good judgment and defending America from tyranny. But know that when your sons are on the front lines fighting for our beliefs that we are back home and at the country club proclaiming the sanctity of their mission while demanding tax cuts for us so we can have bigger fences built around our communities to keep them out when they come home so we don't have to look at them.

    1. I have offended you, Joe "Truth 101" Kelly. I must apologize:

Most denizens of the galaxy, you see, often perceive the Neimoidians as villainous. As a matter of facts, It is said that such notions as morality and ethics are completely absent from the Neimoidian culture. Neimoidians are reared to believe that anything they can appropriate is theirs by right, regardless of the means used.

You say your high minded ideals and ethics disqualify you as a Neimoidian. And if you say so, it must be Truth.

Besides, it is a point of contention whether all Neimoidians are cowards.

During the Separatist Crisis, the Neimodians aligned themselves with Count Doofus.

And some known Neimoidians have been members of One Sith during the Legacy era, tasked with guarding the Chambers of Persuasion in XoXaan's Temple on Korriban.

Unfortunately, Neimoidians, it seems, have been stereotyped as greedy, lazy, and corrupt. It is often said that one of the most difficult concepts for a Neimoidian to understand is loyalty. The part about cowardice probably arose later as a result, among other things, of the Neimodians' ever increasing reliance on killer droids for almost everything.

Listed in Peterson's Guide to Droids of the Republic, Vol. VII: The Great Corporate Expansion Era, the Tac-Spec Corporation FIII Footman droids are considered legendary and among the deadliest personal service units ever created

  4. The gulf between the treatment of this incident in the mainstream media and the reaction of the population at large in Europe (as expressed by the comments in Le Figaro, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, or on social networks) has been quite an eye-opener.

Most impressive article, here, on the topic.

Tip of the hat to the author, Andrew Dittmer, for his very thorough compilation (and painstaking translation) of most of these responses.
